Dr. David Karli is a physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) specialist. In 2003, Dr. Karli joined the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. His expertise
in interventional treatment of spinal and musculoskeletal disorders provides an additional dimension of expertise to Steadman Hawkins. Dr. Karli's clinical interest
in regenerative medicine and development of of non-surgical interventions for a variety of conditions has led to the development of a platelet gel (Platelet Rich
Plasma, PRP) injection therapy program for patients experiencing acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries. Additionally, he continues to focus his research on
autologous blood and novel regenerative therapies that hold great promise for development of future treatment protocols for musculoskeletal and spine disorders.
Dr. Karli is a former collegiate athlete, who graduated with honors from Elizabethtown College. Following medical school at the University of Maryland, he completed
his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. He subsequently joined the faculty at
Harvard, and served as an Attending Physician with the Department of PM&R at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, as well as the Dept of Orthopedic Surgery at Mass
General Hospital.
While at Harvard, he created a successful outpatient practice, participated in the development of rehabilitation protocols for spinal disorders and formed clinical
collaborations with Orthopedic Surgeon colleagues. Dr. Karli was instrumental in developing the first fluoroscopically guided spinal injection program at Spaulding.
A diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Karli is an active member of multiple professional societies including the International
Spinal Injection Society, the American Academy of PM&R and the Regenerative Medicine Organization. He has lectured and authored in spinal and musculoskeletal topics
and has contributed to a Spine and Sports Medicine textbook.
